BBC publish expenses of top 50 highest paid executives
The BBC has published the expense claims of its top 50 highest paid executives. Licence payers can now see how much of their money is spent on things like entertaining, travel and accommodation. At first glance, the majority of claims appear to be reasonable but it is not clear if the published expenses are a true reflection of the actual cost to the corporation. There is a large number of claims for Taxis from home to work and a high number of claims for 'Internal entertaining'. Both of these expenses are subject to national insurance contributions of 12.8% and income tax at 40% which, unless paid by the individuals themselves, makes the true cost of these claims to the licence payer significantly higher than the amounts published.
